Dee Hamill NUtritional Therapist - my story

In my early 20s - overweight, suffering from gut, hormonal & mood issues

I am a real foodie who loves eating and talking about healthy, nutritious food — but it wasn’t always that way!

For years, I struggled with IBS, constipation, gut pain, anxiety, PMS, and weight issues. Between working, traveling, raising three kids and dealing with stress (while doing very little exercise), my health spiralled as I entered my 40s. I felt completely out of control.

Then, my wake-up call came. My GP warned me that I was on track to develop a serious autoimmune disease (lupus or rheumatoid arthritis) within 5–10 years, with medication as my only option. That was the moment I knew I had to take charge of my health — not just for myself but for my family too.

With a history of poor health in my family, I had seen first-hand how devastating chronic illness could be. My mother suffered a severe stroke at just 42, leaving her disabled and unable to speak properly, while my father battled type 2 diabetes, hereditary hemochromatosis, and later Alzheimer’s. I became the primary caregiver for each of them before their untimely passing. Watching their struggles motivated me to do everything in my power to change my own future.

Although I had already earned an MSc in Public Health Nutrition, I realised I needed a different approach to truly heal myself. Working with a Nutritional Therapist changed everything — I discovered I was coeliac and embarked on my own wellness journey. This led me to study Nutritional Therapy at the IINH, a decision that completely transformed my health, my mindset and ultimately, my life.

Now, in my early 50s and post-menopausal, I feel better than ever — full of energy, free from pain, and with more vitality and mental clarity than I had in my 20s and 30s!

My passion is to help others experience the same transformation. I believe that with the right knowledge, guidance and support, you can take control of your health and thrive. If you're ready to make lasting changes and feel your best, I’d love to help you on your journey.
